Test new products and services in real homes and get invaluable consumer feedback

The energy sector is thinking hard about how to play in a smarter, more connected world. Suppliers are considering selling services. Manufacturers are trying to sell connected home products. It’s difficult to find out what consumers will value.

We’ve experimented with smart homes since 2015. We’ve used sensors to see beyond what people say to what they do. We’ve used models to relate behaviour to the energy system. This has shown us that there are lots of ways to improve people’s experiences using energy at home.

We’ve built a Living Lab to help others learn how to take these opportunities.
